Abstract

Sexually Transmitted Infections or STIs pose a major threat to the health of people in both developing and developed countries. Considering the HIV/AIDS pandemic affecting the global population it is necessary to educate people about the preventable STIs. A study was undertaken in a private college in Kolkata to ascertain the students’ knowledge of and attitude to some common STIs and sexuality. One hundred and seventeen  ( 117 ) students were chosen by
convenience sampling to participate in the cross sectional study. This study will help to understand the concept and attitudes of students towards STIs and pave the way towards introduction of age appropriate sex education at the school and the college level.
