Literary works document the social life of a particular period and they also play an important role in influencing the public opinion. Literature helps the social scientists to understand the attitude of the people towards a particular issue or towards a particular community. This paper examines the representation of
the Chinese Indians in some Bengali detective fictions and makes an attempt to understand how the Bengalis view the Chinese residents of Kolkata.
